One person has died and another is in critical condition in hospital after last night's crash on State Highway 3, Te Kuiti.
The two-car crash happened shortly before 8:30pm.
The road was blocked for several hours while members of the Serious Crash Unit attended the scene.
The full circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
