Police can confirm one person has died following a crash in Waimate.
The single vehicle crash on State Highway 1, near O'Neills Road was reported at 2:20pm.
One person died at the scene and a second person was transported to hospital in a critical condition.
The road remains closed however is due to re-open shortly.
