Police are seeking witnesses to a serious crash on State Highway 30, near Braemar Rd, Rotoma.
Police were alerted to the two vehicle crash at around 2:15pm.
Eight people were injured in the crash.
The road has been closed and could stay that way for several hours while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
