NZ police visible in Porirua for funeral

As put by Inspector Renée Perkins, Kāpiti-Mana Area Commander:

Police are visible in Porirua today in relation to a planned funeral in the area, following the death of a Hawke's Bay-based gang member on Friday 15 December.

Police have observed an increased gang presence in Porirua with members arriving from Hawkes Bay and other areas. The procession is expected to travel from Waitangirua to Whenua Tapu cemetery, early afternoon.

Police have additional staff deployed in Porirua to provide reassurance. Any anti-social, unlawful, or driving-related offending will not be tolerated. Police will take enforcement action where offending is identified.

The community can expect some delays on the roads.

Everyone in the community has the right to be safe and feel safe and we ask you report any unlawful behaviour to police on 111 if it is happening and 105 after the fact.
