OAS Women's Commission Hosts 40th Assembly in D.C

The Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold its 40th Assembly of Delegates, the principal political body of the CIM, from May 27 to 29, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

The meeting will bring together Principal Delegates to the CIM, ministers and high-level authorities from national machineries for the advancement of women's rights, representatives of Permanent Missions and Observer Missions to the OAS, government officials, specialists from international organizations, cooperation agencies, civil society organizations, and invited experts.

The Assembly will focus on the theme "The economic rights of women in the Americas: policies and strategies to guarantee autonomy and bargaining power," under the slogan "It is time to settle the debt." Discussions will address labor inclusion and entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, digital inclusion, economic autonomy, and regional cooperation.

On May 27, the Forum of Women's Rights Civil Society Organizations: Priorities for a Women's Economic Rights Agenda will take place. On May 28, the inaugural session, keynote lecture, and three main dialogues will be held, with live streaming of the public segments according to the official agenda. On May 29, institutional reports will be presented, the CIM authorities for the 2026-2029 period will be elected, and the Assembly declaration and resolutions will be considered.
