Joint media release with the Hon Tara Moriarty MLC
The Oberon Tigers Rugby League Club is preparing to defend its Woodbridge Cup premiership at its brand-new home, with the town's Multi-Purpose Sports and Community Complex bringing rugby league and netball together on one site.
Oberon Council was awarded $6,878,304 from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund under the jointly funded Albanese and Minns Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. This fund helps communities recover from the Black Summer Bushfires of 2019-20.
This project has seen the Oberon Tigers relocate to a new home with two new fields established on the main entrance of town. These fields are co-located with two new full-sized netball courts and preparation works for a new hockey field marking the long-awaited return of games to the community.
The complex features a two-storey clubhouse that includes a club area with bar and food service facilities. A commercial kitchen has been installed to support catering for events and match days.
Four change rooms have been designed to accommodate male and female teams, ensuring inclusive access to the grounds.
Spectators will enjoy a grandstand with seating for approximately 280 people, with additional facilities and referee rooms smartly incorporated into the design.
A 'Legend's Hall' has been included in the clubhouse design, that will showcase the long history of sport in the Oberon region, especially that of the Tigers.
