Off Leash Open Space Consultation Update

Community feedback in our Off-Leash Open Space for Dogs survey was invaluable, and 96% of respondents told us the Borough needs more off-leash places for dogs to play, exercise and socialise. In response, Council has selected two new trial off-leash sites in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, which will complement Narrows Dog Beach.

Some preparation work is required on the trial sites, which is now underway. Preparation works include installation of bins, dog poo bag dispensers, and signage. The plan is for the trials to commence late 2025 / early 2026, however the start date may shift depending on the time needed to formalise consent from the State Government as the landowner.

As a reminder, Royal Park Oval continues to be a dog-on-leash area, just like all public areas in the Borough. Please help keep this space safe for everyone by following the rules. Our Local Laws team will be keeping an eye on the area and will take reasonable enforcement action if needed.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe and enjoyable for all.
