Officer assaulted during arrest at Deniliquin

A man will face court today after a police officer had his finger broken during an arrest at Deniliquin yesterday.

About 4.40pm (Monday 29 July 2019), police attended a home on Davies Court to arrest a 25-year-old man with outstanding warrants for offences relating to alleged domestic assaults, break and enter, and breach of ADVO.

After the man was arrested and was being directed into the police vehicle, he allegedly became aggressive and kicked the hand of a male constable.

The 25-year-old man was restrained and taken to Deniliquin Police Station where he was later charged with 11 offences, including domestic-related matters, destroying/damaging property, resist police, and assault police.

He was refused bail to appear at Deniliquin Local Court today (Tuesday 30 July 2019).

The constable attended Deniliquin Base Hospital to be treated for a broken finger.
