Officer assaulted, knife seized; man charged in Blacktown

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a police officer leaving him with a split lip at Blacktown Railway Station today, NSW Police say.

About 9.40am (Thursday 16 August 2018), officers attached to the North West Transport Action Group were conducting an operation at Blacktown Railway Station when they noticed a man standing on the platform.

They spoke with the man, aged 38, and following inquiries it was revealed he was wanted for breaching his bail.

The man was arrested and searched. Police will allege a knife was found during the search and during the arrest an officer was headbutted.

The male Senior Constable suffered a cut lip.

The man was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with breach of bail, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, custody of a knife and offensive language.

He was refused bail and will appear in Blacktown Local Court today (Thursday 16 August 2018).
