Officer charged - Central Metropolitan Region 24 July

An off-duty police officer has been charged following a domestic-related incident in Byron Bay.

Yesterday (Saturday 23 July 2022), officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation into reports of an alleged domestic-related incident involving two men – who are known to each other.

Following inquiries, a 24-year-old probationary constable – attached to a command in the Central Metropolitan Region – was arrested and charged with two counts of common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and intentionally choke person without consent.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Byron Bay Local Court on Monday 15 August 2022.
