A police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged assault following a pursuit in Sydney's south west.
On Wednesday 16 October 2024, officers attached to a South West Metropolitan Region command arrested a 16-year-old boy in Camden, following an alleged pursuit across the Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown areas.
Following the arrest a Senior Constable attached to South West Metropolitan Region allegedly punched the handcuffed teenager multiple times in the face while he was in custody in the back of a police vehicle.
The incident was immediately reported by nearby police to senior officers and an investigation into the incident was commenced.
Following extensive investigations, the officer – a 37-year-old man – was issued a Court Attendance Notice today (Wednesday 27 August 2025), for common assault.
He will appear before Picton Local Court on Thursday 9 October 2025.
The officer remains in the workplace and his employment status is under review.
