Officer charged - North West Metropolitan Region 22 December

A police officer has been charged over an alleged sexual assault and access to restricted data.

Last month, an investigation commenced into reports of an alleged sexual assault in 2019, which was then referred to the Professional Standards Command.

Following inquiries, a 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 21 December 2022) and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.

The probationary constable – attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – was charged with two counts of sexual assault and 10 counts of unauthorised access to restricted data.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Monday 9 January 2023.

The officer was subsequently dismissed under Section 80(3) of the Police Act.
