Officer charged - Southern Region 20 March

A police officer has been charged following investigations into an alleged assault in Sydney's CBD last year.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after a man was allegedly assaulted at a licensed premise on Friday 14 October 2022.

Following inquiries, a 29-year-old man was served a court attendance notice on Monday 20 March 2023.

The man – a constable attached to a command within the Southern Region ­– was charged with two counts of common assault and excluded person remain in vicinity of licensed premises.

The man will appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 3 May 2023.

The officer's employment status is under review.
