Officers assaulted; man charged - Peakhurst

A man will appear in court today charged after police officers were allegedly assaulted, leaving one with a broken wrist, in Sydney's south yesterday.

About 7am (Saturday 25 July 2020), police were called to a unit complex on Lawrence Street, Peakhurst, following reports a man was disturbing other residents.

Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and located the man a short time later.

When police were placing the man under arrest, it's alleged he became aggressive before assaulting the officers, resulting in one constable sustaining a broken wrist and a serious bite wound to his leg.

Further police attended to assist, and the 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

He has since been charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal), three counts of intimidate police officer in execution, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty, and give false information person/property in danger.

The Peakhurst man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 26 July 2020).
