Officers injured when HWP car struck by 4WD at Blue Mountains

Two officers have been injured when their fully-marked Highway Patrol vehicle was hit while stopped on the side of a road in the Blue Mountains.

The two officers were driving along Hawkesbury Road towards Springwood shortly before 5.30pm (Thursday 30 April 2020), when they stopped a driver for the purposes of a roadside breath test.

The driver allegedly returned a positive test and both officers were sitting in their HWP BMW, when they were hit from behind by a Land Rover Discovery, which then rolled.

Both male officers sustained bruising and suspected neck injuries and have been taken to Nepean Hospital.

The drivers of the first vehicle and the P-plate driver of the 4WD were not injured.

The driver, who allegedly who returned a positive RBT, has been arrested and taken to Springwood Police Station for the purposes of a breath analysis.
