Discovering what to see and do in the Central Goldfields just got a whole lot easier with the launch of our new Official Visitor Guide.

The Guide is a key marketing tool that showcases our region to potential visitors – enticing them to visit and discover our hidden gems.

It is packed with experiences, suggestions on what to see and do, along with places to eat, drink, visit, and rest.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Grace La Vella said it was wonderful to see the Official Visitor Guide reproduced as our Shire's key tourism marketing publication.

"Our tourism operators, along with our Visitor Centre staff and volunteers, had shared the need for us to produce an updated Official Visitor Guide. Despite so many turning to their phones for information, tourists were still asking for and prefer a hard copy guide when choosing or visiting a destination.

"Tourism visitation to our Shire is growing with 37,000 tourists flocking through the doors of our transformed visitor centre since it's reopening in September 2023.

"In what is a highly competitive tourism market, we know visitors are coming here as a destination of choice to experience arts, culture, nature, heritage, and gold prospecting. Our role is to ensure this number continues to grow.

"Whilst the Guide is targeted at tourists, it's ideal for locals too as we know that visiting friends and relatives remains a big market for us too.

"So, if you are keen to explore your own backyard, or hosting friends or family, pick up a copy to discover the hidden gems of our region."

The Official Visitor Guide is available at the Central Goldfields Visitor Centre at the iconic Maryborough Railway Station, or from local tourism operators.

You'll also be able to pick up a copy when you travel – copies will be distributed at Visitor Information Centres across Victoria including Melbourne.

The digital version can be accessed via our dedicated tourism website at www.visitmaryborough.com.au

The Official Visitor Guide is complemented by The Maryborough District Advertiser's quarterly 'Goldfields Getaway' publication which is produced regularly and provides current, up-to-date information about events and activities happening locally.
