One-man Comedy Takes Over Old Baptist Church

Griffith Regional Theatre invites audiences to a show like no other. On Friday 23 October, award-winning theatre maker Simon Vaughan brings his sold-out solo comedy And Also With You to the historic Baptist Church at Pioneer Park Museum.

Vaughan was a Christian until the age of 18, and not the "tick the box on the census form" kind. This was the "attend church every week, read your Bible every day (or at least feel guilty if you don't)" kind, where church was an extended family, a school and even a dating service. Fresh from a sold-out run at the Bondi Festival, and following the Adelaide Fringe festival, Vaughan now turns his sharp comic eye on the good, the bad and the "peace be with you" of growing up when you FROG (fully rely on God). Expect to hear about youth group camps, purity pledges and the weight of original sin, all told with warmth, wit and plenty of laughs.

It's a story with two audiences in mind. When Vaughan was a Christian, his non-Christian friends thought his faith was weird and confusing. When he left the church, his Christian friends were devastated. This show explains himself to both groups, so whether you grew up in the pews or have only ever been to a wedding, you're in for a good time. Come ready to laugh, and don't be surprised if you find yourself singing along.

Theatre Manager Marg Andreazza, said "This show takes theatre outside the four walls of our theatre building, and places this show inside a church at Pioneer Park Museum. We're looking forward to introducing our audience to a different kind of theatre experience."

She said "It's a church service without all the boring stuff, and it'll be a great night out, so grab a friend and make a night of it."

And Also With You will perform at the Old Baptist Church at Pioneer Park Museum on Friday 23 October at 7:30pm. All tickets are $40 and a complimentary glass of wine is included on arrival. For a limited time, audiences can bring a friend along for free with a buy-one-get-one-free offer, available until Tuesday 20 October.

Limited tickets will be available on the night, but to secure your seats early, visit the Griffith Regional Theatre Box Office, by calling 6962 8444 or visiting www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au
