Ongoing Investment To Upgrade Water Mains

Cairns Regional Council will invest $5 million in the replacement of aging water mains in 10 suburbs as part of its 2025/26 Water Main Refurbishment Program.

The program targets water mains that have deteriorated or recorded repeated service disruptions.

Mains identified for renewal have typically experienced more than three breaks within a two-year period, impacting water reliability for residents and businesses.

The program plays a critical role in maintaining the city's essential infrastructure.
