Onslow Education Initiative helping local students thrive

  • Onslow Primary School hosts key representatives to showcase Onslow Education Initiative
  • The initiative supports students’ education and health, and is delivered by the Department of Education, Chevron Australia, and Telethon Speech and Hearing 
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery visited Onslow Primary School in the Pilbara today to hear firsthand about impressive education initiatives at the school.

    The small school has been educating students from kindergarten to Year 12 for more than 50 years and has introduced various programs to improve education outcomes for all students.

    Today, the Minister heard more about the Onslow Education Initiative which provides unique learning opportunities and health benefits for students.

    The initiative is delivered by the Department of Education, Chevron Australia, and Telethon Speech and Hearing. It brings together leading speech, audiological and occupational therapy services, and dedicated teaching resources to support childhood learning and health outcomes.

    The initiative builds on the school’s strong focus on literacy skills, general health programs and the use of technology in teaching and learning. 

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “Onslow Primary School’s commitment to quality teaching and learning opportunities is having a profound impact on all students.

    “It’s clear that the staff have high expectations for student success and wellbeing, and programs like the Onslow Education Initiative show why the school is such an integral part of the community.

    “School staff, together with Chevron Australia and Telethon Speech and Hearing, are making sure local students have the knowledge, skills and values to access the best opportunities in life.”
