Residents and visitors are invited to discover the places, stories and communities that make Latrobe City unique as part of the inaugural Open House Latrobe festival.
Running from 9 to 11 October 2026, the three-day festival will provide behind-the-scenes access to some of Latrobe City's most significant buildings, infrastructure, cultural institutions and natural environments, including many sites that are not normally open to the public.
Delivered through a partnership between Latrobe City Council and Open House Melbourne, the festival celebrates the region's history, industries, culture, environment and future while highlighting Latrobe City's ongoing transformation and renewal.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said the festival offered a rare opportunity to explore the region from a different perspective.
"Open House Latrobe is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to explore the places, stories and communities that make our region unique," Cr Gibson said.
"The festival showcases the rich history, culture and industries that have shaped Latrobe City, while also highlighting the innovation, creativity and environmental assets that will be important to our future."
The festival features more than 30 programs across Latrobe City, opening up buildings, places and spaces that connect people to place and inspire conversations about the future of our communities.
Among the highlights is Collective Energy: More Than Talk, a series of discussions bringing together First Nations' knowledge holders, historians, industry leaders, practitioners and community voices to explore the Latrobe Valley's past, present and future.
The Open House Latrobe program will deliver accessible experiences for people of all abilities.
Developed in collaboration with accessibility experts, an interactive Access Map will help attendees identify programs that meet their access requirements, including information for people with mobility needs, low vision or blindness, and neurodiverse visitors.
"Whether you're visiting a landmark building, learning how essential services operate, exploring our natural environments or attending a community event, there's something for everyone to discover," Cr Gibson said.
The program also includes access to major industrial, civic, heritage and environmental sites across Traralgon, Morwell, Moe, Yallourn, Churchill and Yinnar.
