Operation Sierra Shard - 18 people charged with 94 drug and weapon offences, South West District

Police have charged 18 people with a total of 94 drug, weapon and other offences after executing a number of search warrants in Queensland's west this week.

As part of Operation Sierra Shard, a 12-month investigation targeting drug supply, distribution and usage across the region, officers from the South West District's Criminal Investigation Branch and the Charleville Patrol Group, along with specialist officers from the Major Organised Crime Squad (Rural) and the Brisbane Dog Squad, executed 24 searches at private residences in Charleville, Cunnamulla and Warwick.

Detective Acting Inspector Isa Tolete said the results highlight police's ongoing commitment to removing illegal substances from Queensland streets.

"The result of this operation, which included the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs, firearms and other property believed to be proceeds of crime, reinforces our commitment to ensuring these drugs do not see the light of day on our streets.

"The action we have taken over last two days will significantly disrupt the drug supply and distribution network in the South West and surrounding rural communities.

"If you engage in this type of behaviour, we will find you, we will investigate, and we will take action."
