Operation Victor Sector, Coomera

Police are investigating how a 5-month-old girl acquired critical injuries at Coomera last week.

Just before 2.30pm on Wednesday February 1, police were called to a Coomera address in relation to an unconscious 5-month-old girl experiencing breathing difficulties and suffering cardiac arrest.

The child had no obvious injuries.

The infant was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Subsequent tests have now confirmed the child has significant internal injuries and she remains in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection and Investigation Unit have formed 'Operation Victor Sector' to investigate the cause of her injuries.

Investigations continue.
