Operation Whisky Skyhook Ends in South West District

Police have charged a man following the closure of year-long operation targeting illicit drugs across the South West District.

Officers from South West District Tactical Crime Squad, Roma Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), St George detectives and the Brisbane Dog Squad executed search warrants at two addresses in St George on 27 September as part of Operation Whisky Skyhook.

During the course of the search officers located Methylamphetamine, cannabis and other alleged items suspected in the trafficking of dangerous drugs.

More than $37,000 in cash was also seized, in addition to a disassembled handgun and firearm parts, ammunition and fireworks, and eight motorbikes.

Following the searches, a 49-year-old man was arrested and has now been charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils, unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing tainted currency and items.

He was further charged with two separate counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He will appear at Dalby Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 September.

A woman also located at the property has been referred for drug diversion in relation to possessing dangerous drugs and property suspected of being used in the commission of a drug offence.

Investigations are ongoing.
