Operation Xray Steeler has swept across Brisbane's south during its first month resulting in more than 350 people being charged on more than 1000 offences.
The district-led co-ordinated operation commenced at the beginning of October, with a focus on preventing and solving crimes that cause harm to communities in South Brisbane District (SBD) and reducing the number of victims of crime.
During its first month, more than 290 adults were charged with more than 797 offences and more than 50 juveniles were charged with more than 210 offences.
The charges related to enter and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess dangerous drug, stealing, burglary, fraud, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, robbery, common assault, sexual assault, and possess weapon in addition to domestic violence and traffic offences.
Increased intelligence-led patrols targeted illegal activities at all hours of the day – particularly during key times overnight and in suburbs where intelligence indicated offences may be more likely to occur.
Notable jobs detected throughout the operation include the arrest of high-risk property crime offenders, including one teen on 65 charges, and the seizure of drugs and weapons.
The operation builds on the daily work officers across Brisbane's south are doing every day to keep their local communities safe.
SBD District Officer Acting Chief Superintendent Heath McQueen says at the heart of this operation is ensuring resources are focused on where and when they are needed most.
