Osaka World Expo 2025: Industry & Resources Focus

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

World Expo 2025 runs until 13 October and is expected to attract more than 28 million visitors. Throughout the expo, Australia is highlighting its innovation and expertise in science, critical technologies, advanced manufacturing, the digital economy and resources.

The theme for World Expo 2025 is 'designing future society for our lives'. In the coming weeks, we'll showcase opportunities to support sustainable development of that future at Australia's pavilion.

Our department will:

  • highlight opportunities to support a Future Made in Australia through developing the batteries and green metals manufacturing industries
  • present possibilities to make the future sustainable through developing critical minerals resources and carbon capture storage.

Australia's national science agency, CSIRO, will showcase their efforts to improve biosecurity and develop a hydrogen industry. The Australian Nuclear Science Technology Organisation (ANSTO) will host live science shows and explore how technology can improve food safety.

Earlier this year we celebrated the 45th anniversary of our science and technology treaty with Japan. In May we hosted special guests at the expo including Australian astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg and our Chief Scientist Professor Tony Haymet.
