As part of an ongoing campaign to promote careers in law enforcement, from 26 June to 2 July 2025, the OSCE Mission supported the Kosovo Police in organizing a series of outreach meetings across five regions in Kosovo.

The initiative targeted young women and men, mainly from non-majority communities, with the goal of encouraging their applications to join the Kosovo Police. The outreach events were conducted in Gjilan/Gnjilane, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica, Pejë/Peć, Prishtinë/Priština, and Prizren, attracting 105 potential applicants, including 70 men and 35 women, of whom 52 were Kosovo Albanians, 19 Kosovo Serbs, 17 Kosovo Bosniaks, eight Kosovo Roma, eight Kosovo Egyptians, and one Kosovo Turk.

These informative sessions provided candidates with practical guidance on the application process, eligibility criteria, and the benefits of a policing career. They also highlighted the wide range of professional development and advancement opportunities available within the Kosovo Police.

In their presentations to attendees, senior police officers emphasized the Kosovo Police's strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as its welcoming of applicants from all ethnicities and genders. The sessions also reaffirmed the Kosovo Police's dedication to building a representative and equitable public safety institution that serves all communities equally.

"Our goal is to support the development of a truly multi-community police organization that serves and protects all communities in Kosovo," said Ms. Maria De Benito Rodriguez, Acting Director of the Department for Security and Public Safety at the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. "Through these outreach activities, we are creating space for young people from diverse backgrounds to see themselves as part of the future of public safety in Kosovo," she noted.

Colonel Hilmi Pacolli, Director of Kosovo Police Personnel and Administration, also highlighted the significance of the campaign. "These outreach events are essential for ensuring that young people from all communities are informed and encouraged, and feel welcome in the Kosovo Police. Our strength lies in our diversity, and we are committed to building a professional police organization that reflects the society we serve."

The campaign is part of broader efforts to strengthen trust between law enforcement and the public, while ensuring that the next generation of Kosovo Police officers reflects the full diversity of the multi-ethnic society in Kosovo.
