From 2 to 4 July 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supported the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Development of Renewable Energy Sources: Current Status and Prospects", organized in close co-operation with the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Renewable Energy Association of Tajikistan. Held in Dushanbe, the conference brought together more than 150 participants, including 15 women, representing government institutions, academia, international organizations, development partners, the private sector and civil society.
The conference provided a platform for dialogue among key stakeholders on accelerating renewable energy development in Tajikistan and identifying practical approaches to enhancing the country's energy security and resilience. Participants exchanged international experience and the latest scientific knowledge on hydropower, solar and wind energy, energy efficiency, resource assessment, and the integration of renewable energy technologies into national energy systems. Discussions also explored opportunities for enhanced scientific co-operation, innovation and investment.
The conference also contributed to advancing policy dialogue by identifying measures to strengthen the regulatory framework for renewable energy, promote investment and encourage the adoption of innovative technologies and business models. It reinforced partnerships among national and international stakeholders and laid the groundwork for continued co-operation in support of Tajikistan's transition to a more diversified, resilient and sustainable energy sector.
The event is in line with the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe's ongoing commitment to supporting energy security, strengthening energy governance and fostering dialogue and partnerships for sustainable energy development in Tajikistan.
