OSCE Backs Tajikistan's Green Economy Study in Georgia

From 1 to 5 June 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supported a study visit to Georgia for representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and members of the Executive Office of the Republic of Tajikistan to strengthen co-operation on advancing green economy initiatives in the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the five-day visit to Tbilisi and Adjara, the delegation exchanged experiences with Georgian counterparts on green economy and decarbonization policies, integration with the EU Green Deal, sustainable urban development, waste management reforms, green business development, and investment planning.

The delegation met with representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Enterprise Georgia, Batumi City Hall, and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

The visit is expected to contribute to the advancement of Tajikistan's green economy agenda by supporting the development of practical policy approaches, strengthening inter-agency co-operation, and promoting sustainable and resource-efficient economic initiatives.

Following the visit, the Tajikistan delegation highlighted how co-operation in the field of the green economy is a vital necessity in the context of global climate change. They expressed their gratitude to their Georgian colleagues for the warm welcome and the high-level organization of the visit.

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe remains committed to supporting the Republic of Tajikistan in implementing the 2026-2028 Green Economy Strategy in line with national priorities and sustainable development objectives.
