OSCE Boosts Cooperation to Protect Trafficking Victims in Kyrgyzstan

OSCE

From 12 to 16 October 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, in co-operation with the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Customs Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, organized a National Simulation Exercise on strengthening inter-agency co-operation and social protection systems for victims of human trafficking at Issyk-Kul.

The exercise provided a practical platform for participants to simulate complex scenarios, test their decision-making and learn from mistakes in a safe and controlled environment. Such exercises are essential for preparing relevant professionals to respond effectively to real-life situations, where timely and well-coordinated action can be critical to the safety, well-being and future of victims of human trafficking.

Beyond developing practical skills, the exercise aimed to strengthen co-operation among relevant institutions and foster a co-ordinated, victim-centred approach to identifying potential victims of human trafficking and ensuring they receive appropriate protection, assistance and support.

By bringing together relevant stakeholders to practise joint responses, the simulation exercise contributed to strengthening national capacities to identify and protect victims of human trafficking and improve co-ordination among the institutions responsible for their safety and social reintegration.
