OSCE Empowers Tajik Women Via Social Enterprise Training

OSCE

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe organized a series of social entrepreneurship training courses for vulnerable women, including survivors of domestic violence and women from low-income families, in Khujand, Panjakent, Bokhtar, the Rasht Valley and Khorog from April to July 2026.

The training courses brought together 66 women from across Tajikistan to support their economic empowerment and equip them with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to build sustainable livelihoods through social entrepreneurship.

Through the programme, participants developed business plans and improved their ability to present their ideas to potential partners. Participants also received coaching, mentorship and technical support to help them launch or expand sustainable businesses.

Reflecting on her experience, participant Sitora Jumanova from Khujand said: "This programme was more than just a training course. It helped me believe in myself, turn my ideas into concrete goals and see new opportunities ahead. I gained valuable knowledge, connected with inspiring people and developed the skills and motivation to move forward. I now feel more confident that, with dedication and passion, I can bring my ideas to life."

Another participant, Zulfiya Qobilova from Khorog, shared her experience: "The programme exceeded all my expectations. It combined practical knowledge with a supportive learning environment where we could exchange experiences and develop our ideas. This was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our skills and think more confidently about turning our business ideas into reality." She added that continued practical workshops and mentoring sessions would help women entrepreneurs further develop and successfully implement their ideas.

The initiative also promotes networking among women entrepreneurs through digital communication platforms, strengthening knowledge-sharing, co-operation and long-term support. By supporting women-led businesses, the programme contributes to greater confidence, economic independence, financial resilience and improved livelihoods.

Funded by Germany, Norway and Finland, the project supports efforts to strengthen women's economic empowerment and promote sustainable livelihoods in Tajikistan.
