The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mission) calls on all relevant authorities to respect and implement binding court decisions, safeguard judicial independence and ensure the functioning and independence of BHRT ahead of the elections. Public service broadcasters play a particularly important role during elections by providing citizens with reliable information needed to make informed decisions.
Beyond the immediate measures needed to ensure BHRT's continued functioning, a sustainable long-term framework for public service broadcasting is necessary, with strong safeguards for its independence.
The Mission also calls on all public officials, candidates and political parties to respect media freedom and provide an enabling environment for journalists to work freely and independently during the election period.
