City of Port Phillip
Supporting the arts and creative community in Port Phillip with up to $12,000 of funding per project

The 2022/23 Culural Development Fund (CDF) Projects grants support local artists, groups and arts organisations to develop and present creative projects in the City of Port Phillip.

This grant round is open to all art forms and will help artists to continue to create, maintain connections to the City and each other, and share work with the community.

Applicants to the CDF-Projects grants may apply for up to $12,000 per project. Applications can include projects that occur in public space, venues or online.

Our arts and creative industries are one of the largest employers in Port Phillip and they have been significantly impacted by the lockdowns and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of our successful project grant recipients for 2022 was seV=n [artist collective] who presented "Workshop" - a visual arts and performance pop-up project in the vacant Carlisle Street shop. Collective artists Nina Sanadze, Mimmalisa Trifilo, Chris Fontana, Alison Kennedy, Tracey Lamb, Amanda Laming and invited artist Zoe Arnott made and exhibited their art on site, ran a series of creative workshops for people of all ages and engaged with local community over the period of 8 days. They concluded the "Workshop" project with a festive weekend, including a curated art exhibition with 12 additional artists, plus a poetry reading by Angela Costi, accompanied by a musical performance by Irene Vela.

Nina Sanadze, speaking on behalf of seV=n [artist collective] said the artists found it a highly rewarding experience with mutual support given to and received from local community.

"We feel we honoured to share in the diversity, vibrancy and cultural history of Carlisle Street. This event enabled us as a collaborative group to both reflect on our individual and collaborative processes and has expanded our sense of what we can achieve as a group into the future."

Applications for our CDF-Projects grants are open from 9 am Monday 25 July until 4 pm Monday 5 September 2022.

An online Grant Writing for Creatives workshop on Wednesday August from 6 to 8.30 pm.
