Outdoor Pools Perfect Destination

Latrobe City's outdoor pools open next weekend, Saturday 26 November for the community to enjoy ahead of the summer season.

Latrobe City Council operates the much-loved pools at Moe and Yallourn North, which will remain open right through summer until 13 March 2023.

Once again, the community will be able to access free general entry to the Yallourn North Outdoor Pool during the 2022/23 outdoor pool season.

Both pools are equipped with ample grassed and shaded areas, barbecues, change facilities and children's areas, making it the perfect place to spend a hot summer afternoon.

"Time spent at outdoor pools over summer is a cherished tradition for many families and individuals in Latrobe City," Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Kellie O'Callaghan said.

"Many childhood memories are made at the local outdoor pool over the summer break, with families and friends enjoying an opportunity to connect and enjoy one another's company while seeking some cool relief on a warm summer day.

"Our outdoor pools offer a safe and welcoming place for our younger community members to gain confidence in the water and develop a lifelong love of swimming, right in our backyard."

The opening hours of the Moe and Yallourn North pools are subject to the following temperature requirements, decisions are based on Bureau of Metrology forecast for Moe issued at 6pm the day prior:

• On days forecast 36 degrees or above all outdoor pools are open from 10am to 7pm.

• On days forecast 30 degrees or above all outdoor pools are open from 12noon to 7pm.

• On days forecast 25 degrees or above all outdoor pools are open from 2pm to 7pm.

• On days forecast 24.9 degrees or below all outdoor pools are closed.

The 25m outdoor geothermally heated pool at the Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre in Traralgon is also open Monday to Friday from 6am - 10am and 4pm to 8pm, and on weekends from 8am - 10am and 4pm - 6pm.
