In response to the final report of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, Oxfam Australia Acting Chief Executive, Dr. Chrisanta Muli, says:
"Oxfam warmly welcomes the historic final report of the Yoorrook Justice Commission. We honour and thank the Commissioners for their years of tireless work uncovering the truth and pay deep respect to the many witnesses who bravely shared testimonies.
"We call on the Victorian government to accept all 100 recommendations of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, including the establishment of a permanent advisory body with decision-making powers.
"Yoorrook's report offers bold, transformative proposals to guide Victoria's Treaty process. Oxfam stands in continued support of the call for Treaty, as the Assembly negotiates between First Peoples and the Victorian Government.
"We strongly support legislation to ensure the First Peoples' Assembly can continue its vital work on an ongoing basis-advocating for solutions put forward by First Nations Victorians themselves. This is a landmark moment on the path to justice."
