More than 10,000 Queenslanders have successfully completed an Australian-first, online program to earn their learner licence.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said more than 50 per cent of Queenslanders taking their learner driver licence exam were now doing so through PrepL, the online and learning assessment set to replace the traditional written exam.
"Queensland is leading the way in improving the safety and competency of new drivers and this is a significant milestone for the new program," Mr Bailey said.
"The Palaszczuk Government's PrepL program is the biggest change for the learner driver test since it was established.
"Despite PrepL being launched five months ago, more than half of new drivers have already made the choice to complete the interactive program instead of the old written test.
"The program can be used across multiple devices, including smart phones, tablets and computers, allowing customers to complete their learning anywhere, anytime and at their own pace.
"Importantly, PrepL does not only test knowledge of the road rules, but also focuses on safe driving attitudes and sharing the road with others.
"Statistics show motorists aged 16 to 24 years are one of Queensland's most at-risk groups, and the PrepL program is a great way to share the important message about safe driver behaviour."
Alternative arrangements are available for customers unable to access the online program.
