Indigo Shire Council is calling on the community to help recognise the outstanding people and organisations who make our towns and communities such vibrant places to live.
Nominations for the 2027 Indigo Shire Australia Day Community Awards open on Monday 14 September and close on Sunday 11 October. The awards celebrate individuals, volunteers, young leaders, sporting achievers and community organisations that go above and beyond to make a positive difference across Indigo Shire.
Mayor Cr Sophie Price said the awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of people whose dedication often happens quietly behind the scenes.
"Every day, volunteers, community groups and local leaders help strengthen the social fabric of our communities. The Australia Day Community Awards are a chance to celebrate these remarkable efforts and thank those who make Indigo Shire such a special place to live."
Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals and groups in the following award categories:
- Indigo Shire Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
- Emma George Junior Sporting Scholarship
- Town and District Awards
Each year, the awards recognise the people and organisations whose leadership, generosity, commitment and achievements have made a lasting impact in their local community. Previous recipients have included volunteers, sporting advocates, community groups, event organisers and local champions from across the shire.
Award recipients will be announced as part of Indigo Shire's Australia Day celebrations on 26 January 2027.
