P2 provisional driver charged over speeding, drink-driving - Casula

A provisional driver has been charged after he was allegedly speeding and drink-driving in Sydney's south-west overnight.

Just before 7.30pm (Sunday 4 December 2022), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on the Hume Highway at Casula when they observed a Holden Commodore sedan allegedly travelling 140km/hr in a 70/km hr zone.

The Holden then allegedly sped through a red light before the vehicle was stopped by police in Ingham Drive.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Green Valley Police District, where he returned a breath analysis result of 0.093.

The man, who holds a P2 provisional drivers licence, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive speed dangerous, P2 driver exceed speed limit >45km/h, and drive with Mid-Range PCA.

He is due to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 11 January 2023.
