Paralowie pursuit

PD Zeus arrested a man in Paralowie this morning after he dumped a stolen car.

About 1.15am this morning (Wednesday 24 January) Northern patrols spotted black Subaru Liberty on Port Wakefield Road. Checks revealed the car had been stolen from a Stirling home on Tuesday 16 January. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but it refused to pull over and a brief pursuit ensued.

Patrols followed the car around the Paralowie area for about five minutes before losing sight of it on Firmin Street. After a brief search police located the vehicle dumped but still running on Dignam Drive near a park.

Patrols set up cordons and called in Police Dog Zeus to assist. Zeus tracked through the park to Universal Road where he found the suspect hiding under a bush.

The 27-year-old Glandore man was arrested and has been charged with numerous offences including dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, speed dangerous, driving unlicenced, illegal use of motor vehicle, unassigned number plates, breach of bail and possess controlled drug, after a small amount of methamphetamine was located in his possession.

The Subaru was towed from the scene for forensic examination. He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
