Parap Preschool Takes Off

The Finocchiaro CLP Government continues to deliver on quality education with the launch of the redeveloped $10 million Parap Preschool, providing an exciting new learning journey for more than 60 youngsters taking their first step in the classroom.

The redeveloped site provides a fresh preschool teaching and learning environment with contemporary multipurpose spaces to support modern learning outcomes, fitted out with furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Focused on flexible and mix-mode learning opportunities inside and out, the new preschool will feature:

Two classrooms linked by a multipurpose central node.Outdoor learning and play spaces.Administrative space including administration office, storage, staff preparation room and internal and external staff break-out zones.A welcoming entry zone via a secure outdoor courtyard leading into the internal foyer and parent's alcove.Carpark with 18 bays.

Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure Bill Yan said the new preschool demonstrated the capacity of the building industry in the NT.

"The building design is striking for its recognition of the aviation history in the Parap area and demonstrates the capacity and talents of the more than 70 contractors and suppliers working on the school," he said.

Minister for Education and Training Jo Hersey thanked the Member for Fannie Bay Laurie Zio for her advocacy in ensuring the project was ready for the start of the 2026 school year.

"This new preschool will educate and inspire our youngest learners, providing a warm and welcoming environment where they can grow and thrive," she said.

"I can only imagine how excited youngsters, parents and teachers will be when they walk into this new school to start the term."

"The purpose-built Parap Preschool is a great facility for Parap and Fannie Bay families, and it was delivered by the CLP Government."

Construction Manager, Andrew Lane from Jaytex Construction said he was proud to partner with the NT Government to deliver this transformative community project.

"The unique, aviation-inspired design has made for an interesting build, and we're excited see the next wave of little Territorians and integral educators enjoy the facility for generations to come," he said.

Member for Fannie Bay, Laurie Zio said her community were eagerly waiting for the school doors to open.

"The opening of the new preschool has been a very important topic of discussion with our community and I can't wait to see it full of happy, engaged youngsters," she said.

"The new spaces are bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed for our curious little learners and I can't wait to see local families and children making the most of this incredible environment."
