Campaspe Shire Council is advising drivers that parking restrictions along Murray Esplanade will soon be actively enforced, following feedback from local businesses.
Council will begin a two-week warning period from 15 June 2026, with enforcement to commence from 1 July 2026. Time limits in the area are not changing.
The renewed focus on enforcement aims to improve access to shops and services in Echuca's heritage riverfront precinct by encouraging regular turnover of parking spaces.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the change responds directly to concerns raised by local traders.
"We've heard from businesses that limited parking turnover is impacting customers' ability to access shops and services along Murray Esplanade and into the Port of Echuca Precinct," the mayor said.
"This isn't about introducing new restrictions - it's about ensuring existing time limits are followed so more people can access this important area of our town."
Council is encouraging business owners, staff and long-stay visitors to make use of nearby all-day parking options, including:
- Parts of the Pump House Car Park
- Parts of Radcliffe Street
- Marungal Jetty Car Park, Leslie Street (free)
Drivers are reminded that it is their responsibility to check signage and comply with all parking restrictions.
"Clear signage is already in place, and we encourage all drivers to take a moment to check time limits when parking," Cr Mackrell said.
