As part of Hawkesbury City Council's commitment to deliver accessible playgrounds for a range of ages across our city, a brand-new playground has been installed at McKenzie Park, Wilberforce.
Replacing ageing equipment, the new playground is useable for kids aged 0 – 12 and includes a climbing activity unit, slide, large single swing, ground level mini trampoline and a spinner. Works have also been undertaken to improve the amenity of the park making it more comfortable, safer, convenient and enjoyable for its users.
Hawkesbury City Mayor Les Sheather and Councillor Paul Veigel officially opened the new play space at McKenzie Park on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
Mayor Sheather said: "The renewed playground is a wonderful outcome for a much-loved, local park in Wilberforce."
"The works have made the park safer and more accessible and include a mix of traditional and modern park activities for the kids of Wilberforce to enjoy for many years to come."
Using the best practice principles of Can I Get There, Can I Play, Can I Stay and Can I Connect, the upgrade of McKenzie Park has delivered a local playground that is modern, appealing, accessible and includes appropriate recreational opportunities that encourage the local community to engage and connect with each other and their surrounds.
McKenzie Park is located on Turnball Avenue, Wilberforce.
