As stated by Detective Senior Sergent Shane Pilmer, Northland CIB:
Police earlier today recovered a body believed to be of missing man Saxzin Steedman from the Northern Wairoa River.
Local hapū are advising a placement of a rāhui that will cover the Northern Wairoa River from Notorious East Road to the Northern Wairoa Bridge, especially covering the Mount Wesley and Turiwiri areas in particular.
Local iwi and hapū would like to express their sincere condolences to those whanau affected at this time.
The rāhui will be in place from now until 6pm, Tuesday 28 July.
