Parrtjima: it's a revelation and registrations are OPEN!

Northern Territory Major Events Company

Registrations for Parrtjima 2021 are open now and, if you're keen to see what's in store at this year's Festival in Light, check out the online preview on the Parrtjima Australia Facebook page.

The preview introduces some of the artists and experts involved in making Parrtjima a reality, and provides a glimpse of this year's impressive light installations, in particular Merging Kultcha and Revolving Kultcha. This year's theme is Future Kultcha, which focuses on intergenerational wisdom told through light, interactive workshops, art, music, films, performances and the spoken word.

The preview also touches on some of the program highlights, including Casey Donovan performing and Electric Fields creating the soundscape to this year's stunning Ranges light show. Merging Aboriginal culture with electronic music, Electric Fields will perform their track live on stage on opening night, while the Ranges light show plays out on two kilometres of the 300-million-year-old MacDonnell Ranges behind them.

Included in the preview is mention of an exciting new addition to Parrtjima this year – a dining-under-the-stars experience. Merne, which loosely translates to 'food' in the local Arrernte language, will take guests – and their tastebuds - on a delicious journey of discovery, offering a modern take on traditional bushfoods.

Parrtjima runs from 9-18 April 2021 at Alice Springs Desert Park and Todd Mall. Register now at www.parrtjimaaustralia.com.au.

Quotes from NT Major Events CEO Tim Watsford:

"We are absolutely thrilled to see Parrtjima return to the Red Centre this April, and to share the magic with viewers online.

"After what was an extremely challenging 2020 for Territory events, we are looking to a bright future and can't wait to welcome visitors from all over Australia to the Red Centre for one of the best Parrtjima festivals yet.

"Parrtjima is a magical event in one of Australia's most magnificent locations. Quite simply, it's incredible, and the perfect reason to visit the Territory."
