A man has been charged following a crash that left a second man in a critical condition in Sydney's south last night.
About 9.50pm (Friday 18 April 2025), emergency services were called to Tyrrell Street, Rockdale, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended and found a parked Toyota Corolla had sustained significant damage.
Upon arrival, police located three 19-year-old men at the scene, one of whom was trapped inside the vehicle.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated two passengers at the scene before they were taken to St George Hospital. One of the men remains in a critical condition.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
The driver of the Toyota was subject to a breath test at the scene which returned an alleged positive result.
He was then arrested at the scene and taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.
He was later taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was subject to a breath analysis that returned an alleged reading of 0.203.
The driver was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – PCA, cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle and drive with high range PCA.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 19 April 2025).
It will be alleged in court that the Toyota crashed into a parked van on Railway Parade, Kogarah, shortly before it was found parked on Tyrrell Street.
