Pedestrian Crash - Victoria Bridge Devonport

At 3:50pm today Devonport Police attended to a pedestrian crash on the Victoria Bridge in Devonport.

A female suffering a medical episode was struck by a slow-moving vehicle whilst walking across the bridge in the vehicle lanes.

The Western Bound lanes of the bridge were closed for about 20 minutes before one lane could be opened to allow traffic to flow.

Ambulance Tasmania attended and assessed the female's injuries as minor. Police and Ambulance Tasmania were on scene for one hour before the road was re-opened. The female was transported to the North-West Regional Hospital for Treatment.

Sergeant Jareth Anderson, who attended the scene said, "Due to the attentiveness and quick actions of the driver, the injuries to the pedestrian were significantly reduced." "Tasmania Police are appreciative to all motorists that stopped to render assistance, and greatly appreciate their patience whilst we cleared the scene."
