Pedestrian critical after crash at Bankstown

Police are investigating a crash that occurred in Bankstown last night that's left a pedestrian with serious head injuries in Liverpool Hospital.

Emergency services were called to Marion Street, near Egan Street, about 7.25pm (Monday 13 May 2019), following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

On arrival officers from Bankstown Police Area Command found a 38-year-old man unconscious on the roadway.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in an induced coma.

A 55-year-old male driver of a sedan was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory blood and urine samples.

He was then taken to Bankstown Police Station where he is assisting officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit with their inquiries.
