Pedestrian dies after collision in Brunswick West

Fawkner Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Brunswick West overnight.

Police have been told the pedestrian was lying in the middle of Melville Road, near the intersection of Hope Street, when she was struck by a car just before 11pm.

Emergency services worked on the yet to be identified woman, but she sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and assisted police with their initial enquiries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and ask anyone who may have seen the female pedestrian just prior to the incident to come forward.
