Pedestrian dies after hit by car at Lismore

A woman has died after being hit by a car at Lismore this afternoon.

About 3.20pm (Wednesday 14 July 2021), emergency services were called to Molesworth Street following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the road.

Members of the public, including nearby off-duty medical staff, rendered assistance to the woman prior to NSW Ambulance paramedics arrival.

She was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with serious injuries, however, she died a short time later. She is yet to be formally identified, but believed to be aged in her 70s.

The driver, a woman believed to be aged in her 50s, was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene which will be forensically examined by investigators attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing and anyone with information or dashcam vision in the area is urged to come forward.
