Pedestrian fatally struck in Vermont

Police responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Vermont this morning.

It is believed a male pedestrian was struck by a black station wagon travelling east along Canterbury Road about 2.30am.

The pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old Glen Waverley man, stopped at the scene and alerted emergency services.

He is now assisting police with enquiries.

Nunawading Highway Patrol will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
