Pedestrian hit at Ballina

A woman remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Ballina yesterday.

About 9.25am (Tuesday 15 March 2022), a Subaru Forester was reversing in a car park on Moon Street, Ballina, when the vehicle collided with a brick wall and hit a 64-year-old woman.

The woman was treated at the scene by passers-by, prior to the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

She was taken by road ambulance to Ballina Airport where she was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

The driver – an 83-year-old woman – was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to Ballina Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
